Couchella has been announced! It will be September 24th at Peters Parking Deck, with Sea Ghost, James Hunter USA, Honeywheel, Yes! Hornburger!, and more. The afterparty will be at Phi Kappa Theta fraternity.

Check us out online at gtmn.org!

Open Mic is Thursday at 8:00, with signups at 7:30.

Officer Announcements:

Equipment Manager: I manage equipment – all of your equipment. I run the studio, so if you need anything recorded, or have any questions about the space, come talk to me. There will be studio sound lessons at 1 on Sundays. Also we have lockers outside, they’re 4′ by 4′ and there are two open. Come talk to me if you’re interested in renting out a locker for $20 per semester. They’re first-come-first-serve, but we’ll be considering how much you actually need the locker as well.

Open Mic: I run Open Mic nights every Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00, with signups at 7:30. I’m also in charge of live sound, so if you’re interested in learning more about that, come talk to me. I teach live sound classes Sundays at noon. I also run the YouTube channel, so if there’s anything you want to see, or you want to get involved with filming or photography, come talk to me. The 29th (that’s two weeks from this Thursday) will be Geekapalooza, the open mic comedy show.

IT: I run the website at gtmn.org, where you can find pretty much anything about Musician’s Network. If you see anything weird on the website, or want to see something that you don’t see, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Treasurer: Dues are $10 yearly, practice fees are $15 per semester. Pay dues before booking practice time.

Advertising: We’re always looking for more people to make flyers and get involved in advertising, so if you’re interested, come talk to me, our other advertising officer, our Minister of Propaganda, or our booking officer. No shows this week, but next week, in addition to the Pinkerton tribute show, there will be Couchella September 24th!

Social Chair: My job is to plan non-concert events for you guys to come to every month. I’ll be planning one in September pretty soon. It’ll be arts-and-crafts related. Make sure you’re connected to our social media.

General Manager: I run the space as a music lounge/study space/designated on-campus nap area during the day. If you have music requests during the day, talk to whoever’s working. We’re open 9-6 every day during the week. The student center is hosting a Safe Space initiative called I Feel Safe When; talk to me for more information about that. I am also in charge booking for all GT Orgs events at utcorgbooking@gmail.com. GT Orgs must pay for a sound engineer to work the space. Further details are on the website.

Advertising: We have free lessons! See below for more information. If there’s an instrument you want to learn, or if you’re interested in teaching, come talk to us.

Booking: This semester I won’t be booking all by myself. If there’s a band you wanna see or if you’re interested in joining the booking committee, come talk to me! Couchella is next week!
I’m also running New Band Showcase! Emails were sent out this week. New Band Showcase is a battle-of-the-bands type competition where you get together and form bands, or sign up an already existing band, and compete for prizes! Frist place wins free studio recording, second place wins a spot on a bill sometime during the semester, and third place wins free practice time.

Minister of Propaganda: I’m Ryan, your new Minister of Propaganda. I want to learn from and listen to everyone who comes into the space. If you have any suggestions or questions, come to me and I’ll try to help you or point you to someone who can. I am in charge of all things advertising. Our advertising committee, the Ministry of Propaganda, is a great way to get involved with the club; we produce flyers, chalk out on Skiles walkway, and more. You don’t have to be an officer to join.
Thursday mornings from 11 – 12 is Groovy Friday, where we sit outside on Skiles walkway and play music. There won’t be a Groovy Friday this week, but next week we’ll be out by the piano. Please tune your instruments about 7/16 of a step down.

Secretary: I organize and send out meeting minutes. If you need to join Orgsync or get on the mailing list, come talk to me.

Lint & Loose Change: We just released our September issue last week! We’re planning our October issue, so come talk to me if you’re interested. We take art, writing, and original music submissions. If you want to submit, you can submit to llczine@gmail.com.

Vice President: I am in charge of booking practice times, so after paying dues and practice fees, come talk to me. If you have any other questions, come talk to me. After practicing in the space, make sure you turn everything off, wrap up cables, and have the info desk lock up the space. Talk to a GSM at the desk or call the number if they’re not there.

President: There’s a suggestion box on the website! If you have any suggestions, feel free to¬† submit them there.

General Announcements:

Chris: I’m still selling a 7 string Telecaster. I also have a friend who’s selling a Schecter Hellraiser, so talk to me if you’re interested in either of these.

Claire: I’m going to the I Feel Safe When training session, so if that’s something you’re also interested in, come talk to me.

Jed: I’m selling a concert ukulele, it currently has a low G string but I can switch it out for a high G string.

Tanika: The new Angel Olsen album is fantastic. Also I’m looking to buy a Microkorg, so if you’re selling one, talk to me.

Burke: I do a lot of production work with electronic music, so if you’re interested in collaborating on something, come talk to me.

Thomas: I met a guy named Walter who plays fiddle and forgot to get his phone number. If you know him, come talk to me.

Merritt: I’m setting up a lyrics/songwriting workshop at UTC. There’s gonna be coffee and pastry snacks. Come talk to me to sign up.

Jody: I was thinking of going to see Blood Orange on Thursday, so if anyone else is going, come talk to me.

Krish: I’m going to see Watsky on Thursday. If you don’t know Watsky, he’s not like Mitski. “Your butt makes me weep. I call it a boo-hooty.” We probably have one more spot in our Uber if you wanna join.

Caroline: I’m going to Music Midtown with a couple friends, so if you wanna come with us, we’ll walk together and then Uber back together. If you’re interested, especially if you wanna see Twenty One Pilots, come talk to me.
