We offer free lessons! See the bottom of this email for details.

There will be a strike system for practicing after hours. Please have the GSMs lock up the space when you’re finished.

Officer Announcements:

IT: I run the website at gtmn.org, where you can find pretty much anything about Musician’s Network. If you see anything you think should go on the website, don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m also working with Austin on a 3D tour of the space.

Social Chair: We’re also gonna be tie-dyeing UTC T-shirts November 18 at 4 p.m. The date hasn’t been confirmed, but stay connected on social media.

Booking: New Band Showcase semifinals is November 9th and 11th! If there’s a band you wanna see or if you’re interested in joining the booking committee, come talk to me!
I’m also running New Band Showcase! It’s a battle-of-the-bands type competition where you get together and form bands, or sign up an already existing band, and compete for prizes! First place wins free studio recording, second place wins a spot on a bill sometime during the semester, and third place wins free practice time.

Advertising: We need a new flyer for New Band Showcase! We’re always looking for more people to make flyers and get involved in advertising, so if you’re interested, come talk to me, our other advertising officer, our Minister of Propaganda, or our booking officer.

Secretary: I organize and send out meeting minutes. If you need to join Orgsync or get on the mailing list, come talk to me or email me at secretary@gtmn.org.

General Manager: If you’re curious about Student Center renovation, come talk to me. I run the space as a music lounge/study space/designated on-campus nap area during the day. If you have music requests during the day, talk to whoever’s working. We’re open 9-6 every day during the week. We’re starting Planet Earth Mondays, where we show episodes of Planet Earth during daytime hours. I am also in charge booking for all GT Orgs events at utcorgbooking@gmail.com. GT Orgs must pay for a sound engineer to work the space. Further details are on the website.

Advertising: We have free lessons! See below for more information. If there’s an instrument you want to learn, or if you’re interested in teaching, come talk to us.

Open Mic:  I run Open Mic nights every Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00, with signups at 7:30. I’m also in charge of live sound, so if you’re interested in learning more about that, come talk to me. I teach live sound classes Sundays at noon. I also run the YouTube channel, so if there’s anything you want to see, or you want to get involved with filming or photography, come talk to me.

Equipment Manager: I manage equipment. I also run the studio, so if you need anything recorded, or have any questions about the space, come talk to me.

Treasurer: Dues are $10 yearly, practice fees are $10 since we’re at the end of the semester. Pay dues before booking practice time. Also we’ll eventually get T-shirts, which are free for everyone who’s paid dues.

Minister of Propaganda: I am in charge of all things advertising. Our advertising committee, the Ministry of Propaganda, is a great way to get involved with the club; we produce flyers, chalk out on Skiles walkway, and more. You don’t have to be an officer to join.

Vice President: I am in charge of booking practice times, so after paying dues and practice fees, come talk to me. If you have any other questions, come talk to me. After practicing in the space, make sure you turn everything off, wrap up cables, and have the info desk lock up the space. Talk to a GSM at the desk or call the number if they’re not there.

President: There’s a suggestion box on the website! If you have any suggestions, feel free to  submit them there.

General Announcements:

Merritt: I run songwriting workshop! We meet at 7 on Wednesdays in room 2208, the Spring room.

Claire: I’m half of new band Junior Prom, and we’ll be playing Friday. You may know people Wednesday but you should also definitely come out Friday. We haven’t actually played together.

Jed: I’m the other half of Junior Prom and we need song titles and lyrics. Contribute all your ridiculous ideas here. You will be credited. Also Claire, Krish, Alex McIntyre, and I get together once or twice a week to play sports. Right now it’s beach volleyball by the CRC. Come talk to me if you’re interested.

Elliot: I’m part of GT Hillel and this Friday we’ll be selling challah for charity. Preorders are available here.

Jack: I started a grindcore band and we’re meeting 3 – 6 on Thursdays.

Ryan: My band Identikit made its first appearance at the open mic at The Mammal Gallery. They liked us enough that we’ll be playing a show there this Thursday around 9. It’s all ages and $5 at the door. If you’re interested in seeing a progressive klezmer band, you should come out.
