Open Mic is Thursday at 8:00, with signups at 7:30.

We’re having a Groovy Friday this Thursday at 11:00 on Skiles!

Sign up for Solo Artist Showcase! Signups close this week! Semifinals are 10-15 minutes of music, original works only. First place gets to record a 3 song EP; second place gets to open for a concert. The deadline for signing up is January 30th. Details are on the website.

Officer Announcements:

Advertising: In terms of being involved in advertising, we’ll have Groovy Friday this Thursday if the weather is good. As of this week I’m moving that to a weekly thing depending on the weather. We also have free lessons! See below for more information. If there’s an instrument you want to learn, or if you’re interested in teaching, come talk to us.

Chris Moore, Faculty Advisor: I am here to support you guys from the faculty side of things. We have a new manager of the space who’s super excited to be working with you guys. If you have questions, I teach the recording and mixing classes. Contact me at chris.moore@gatech.edu.

Minister of Propaganda: I am in charge of all things advertising. Our advertising committee, the Ministry of Propaganda, is a great way to get involved with the club; we produce flyers, chalk out on Skiles walkway, and more. You don’t have to be an officer to join.

Secretary: I organize and send out meeting minutes. If you need to join Orgsync or get on the mailing list, come talk to me.

Treasurer: Dues are $10 yearly, practice fees are $15. Pay dues before booking practice time. If you pay your dues, you’ll get a T-shirt.

Open Mic: I run Open Mic nights every Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00, with signups at 7:30. We’re gonna be introducing themes, and if you do something related to the theme, you’ll get a fabulous prize, mostly candy. I also run the YouTube channel, so if there’s anything you want to see, or you want to get involved with filming or photography, come talk to me.

Equipment Manager: I manage equipment, including rentals and lockers. I’m also in charge of live sound, so if you’re interested in learning more about that, come talk to me. If there’s anything broken, missing, or out of place in the practice time, please let me know. Since it’s such a group space, we need everyone’s help to keep the space running smoothly. If you ever need help fixing something, talk to me.

General Manager: I am in charge booking for all GT Orgs events at utcorgbooking@gmail.com. GT Orgs must pay for a sound engineer to work the space. Further details are on the website. We also have upcoming paid events that we need help with; talk to me if you’re interested.

Advertising: We’re looking for more people to get involved in advertising, so if you’re interested in that, come talk to me.

Booking: If there’s a band you wanna see or if you’re interested in joining the booking committee, come talk to me. We’re changing the model this year, looking to do bigger shows but fewer of them.

Studio Manager: I run the studio. We’re in the process of improving the studio; details about studio fees are on the website.

Vice President: I am in charge of booking practice times, so after paying dues and practice fees, come talk to me. If you have any other questions, come talk to me. After practicing in the space, make sure you turn everything off, wrap up cables, and have the info desk lock up the space. Talk to a GSM at the desk or call the number if they’re not there.

President: We have officer meetings 6:00 p.m., and they’re open to everyone as of today! Also, we’re doing subsidized concerts as a club, where we help pay for your admission.

General Announcements:

Jack: I’m starting an 8-piece bass guitar only band. The plan is to perform at open mic in a couple weeks. I already have 4 people, so I need 3 more.

Emeritus: I’m repping FASET. I didn’t really know what this place was for until my roommate brought me here recently, but I noticed that people are really passionate, and I’m trying to recruit FASET leaders. Go to nssp.gatech.edu if you’re interested.

Chad: I’m in my 17th and final semester here as an undergrad. If you’re in CS 4001 or CS 3251, talk to me.

Jake: I’m looking to start jamming on jazz or jazz fusion. Contact me at 412-736-5172 or jsacks3@gmail.com.

Alex: I’m gonna see Blind Pilot on February 9th and The Head and the Heart on March 12th, so if you’re interested in sharing a ride, come talk to me.

Ricky: I’m looking for a drummer. Also does anyone here speak Spanish?

Will: I’m looking to teach people about electronic music (Ableton, Reason, Traktor, Sound design). If you’re interested in learning about why people like this stuff, come talk to me or contact me at w.ard@me.com.

Chris: My band the Organ Machines is playing with Tiny Scissors, Harakiri, and Charlie Bright and the Elevators at Wonderroot soon. It’s gonna be one of the last shows at Wonderroot.

Heath: I do electronic music, talk to me if you’re interested in making electronic music.

Eamon: I produce electronic music and I can’t sing, so if you’re interested in collaborating, come talk to me or contact me at eamon.mccoy@gatech.edu.
