Open Mic is Thursday at 8:00, with signups at 7:30.
We’re having a Groovy Friday this Thursday at 11:00 on Skiles!
Advertising: We have a last minute show for Sunday. The following Saturday, we are having a benefit show for a local food bank. We are having semifinals for the Solo Artist Showcase in March. In terms of being involved in advertising, we are in kind of a lull right now, but we’ll have Groovy Friday this Thursday if the weather is good. As of this week I’m moving that to a weekly thing depending on the weather. We also have free lessons! See below for more information. If there’s an instrument you want to learn, or if you’re interested in teaching, come talk to us.
Chris Moore, Faculty Advisor: I am here to support you guys from the faculty side of things. We have a new manager of the space who’s super excited to be working with you guys. If you have questions, I teach the recording and mixing classes. Contact me at email@example.com.
Minister of Propaganda: I am in charge of the Solo Artist Showcase. I sent out an email last Monday to those who signed up. Please respond ASAP. I need all responses by February 24th. If you want to advertise for the benefit show, contact me! I am in charge of all things advertising. Our advertising committee, the Ministry of Propaganda, is a great way to get involved with the club; we produce flyers, chalk out on Skiles walkway, and more, although we are currently in a lull. You don’t have to be an officer to join.
Secretary: I organize and send out meeting minutes. If you need to join Orgsync or get on the mailing list, come talk to me.
Treasurer: Dues are $10 yearly, practice fees are $15. Pay dues before booking practice time. If you pay your dues, you’ll get a T-shirt. Renting lockers is TBA.
Open Mic: The theme this week is “Numbers that are not One”. I run Open Mic nights every Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00, with signups at 7:30. We’re going to be introducing themes, and if you do something related to the theme, you’ll get a fabulous prize, mostly candy. I also run the YouTube channel, so if there’s anything you want to see, or you want to get involved with filming or photography, come talk to me.
Equipment Manager: I’m going to try and manage the locker situation this week, in an effort to get lockers to people who need them. I have ordered new XLR cables since we were in short supply before. I manage equipment, including rentals and lockers. I’m also in charge of live sound, so if you’re interested in learning more about that, come talk to me. If there’s anything broken, missing, or out of place in the practice time, please let me know. Since it’s such a group space, we need everyone’s help to keep the space running smoothly. If you ever need help fixing something, talk to me.
General Manager: I am in charge booking for all GT Orgs events at firstname.lastname@example.org. GT Orgs must pay for a sound engineer to work the space. Further details are on the website. We also have upcoming paid events that we need help with; talk to me if you’re interested.
Advertising: If anyone has ideas for weekly open mic banners, contact Izzi. Also, come to Groovy Friday, Thursdays @ 11! We’re looking for more people to get involved in advertising, so if you’re interested in that, come talk to me.
Booking: We are looking to do a February charity show involving canned food for the food banks. If you have band recommendations, shoot me an email. If there’s a band you want to see or if you’re interested in joining the booking committee, come talk to me. We’re changing the model this year, looking to do bigger shows but fewer of them.
Studio Manager: I run the studio. The studio is now open. It’s a resource for students to produce music in. The rates are up on the website. Studio sound class will be this sunday; this weeks topic will be recording drums.
Vice President: I am in charge of booking practice times, so after paying dues and practice fees, come talk to me. If you have any other questions, come talk to me. After practicing in the space, make sure you turn everything off, wrap up cables, and have the info desk lock up the space. Talk to a GSM at the desk or call the number if they’re not there.
President: You guys should make bands and record in the studio! There is show this Sunday, come out and support! Come to the Solo Artist Showcase! Information is on our website! We have officer meetings 6:00 p.m., and they’re open to everyone as of today! Also, we’re doing subsidized concerts as a club, where we help pay for your admission.
Jack: I am playing a show this Thursday. Contact me for info. The bass octet is postponed until next week. If you want to buy insolation, talk to me.
Jed: My band, Junior Prom, is playing a show on February 25th at Kappa Sig for a military fundraising event. We are accepting song ideas again. Last year, we put up a google form for song ideas, so look out for that on the Facebook page. Tomorrow at the Arts Cinema, they are showing Ghost in the Shell. If anyone wants to come, contact me.
Ryan: Come out to the UtC show this weekend at Smith’s Olde Bar. Contact me for info! I have decided to make my band Fever Monkey a reality this semester. We are trying out on Saturday at sometime after 11 AM. If you want to try out, contact me!
Member: Sigmund Ros is coming to ATL in May @ The Masquerade. I do not want to go to the concert alone.
Nick: I am in a band called Prium. We are playing a show Saturday night @ 9 PM. Contact me for info. Come out and support.
